- Patiala School for the DeafBlind was started in 2012 when some parents with DeafBlind children wanted a school to be opened for the DeafBlind children also. There is no awareness in Public that children with this disability can also go to a school. Thus Patiala School for The DeafBlind fills this gap in North India.
- Stress is laid on Daily living skills and imparting this education to the DeafBlind.
- Special stress is laid on improving their physical standards as they are normally and not even able to walk. For this purpose a special Occupational therapy centre has been created so that the physical standard of these children improves.
- After proper education in Daily living skills, stress is laid on communication skills.
- The school/ class room is equipped with special equipment and aids to start training of this special category of students.
- Stress is laid on personal and individual upbringing to all aspects of daily life and activities.
- One teacher will handle only two students.
- One care taker for every two to three students.
- Stage one is the most difficult and takes considerable time to achieve success.
